Wes Moore Speaks at On Point Annual Dinner

Chattanooga,TN--Wes Moore, author of The Other Wes Moore, will be speaking at On Point's Annual Dinner on March 1st.

Wes' powerful story centers around two young men, both born blocks apart within a year of each other. Both grew up fatherless in similar Baltimore neighborhoods and had difficult childhoods; both hung out on street corners with their crews; both ran into trouble with the police. The story takes a surprising twist when one Wes Moore goes on to be a Rhodes Scholar, decorated combat veteran, White House Fellow, and successful business man, while the other becomes a convicted murderer serving a life sentence. Why did the two young men chose completely different paths?

After writing the book, Wes recounts, "The chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his." Join On Point on March 1st to find out what makes the difference in a youth's life. Lesley Scearce, President/CEO of On Point, stated, "The story behind The Other Wes Moore mirrors so many of our city's youth, who despite seemingly insurmountable odds, develop into thriving adults. It is our hope that Wes' story will help create a dialogue about what really makes the difference when it comes to the success of youth."

All funds received from On Point's Annual Dinner go directly towards the Think On Point and Life On Point programs, which allow for 15,000 local students to receive education, life skills training, and mentoring support to thrive.
